Who we are
Gaingo is made by Seweryn Wojtowicz, an independent developer based in Cork, Ireland ("we", "us"). We are responsible for your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Questions? Email support@gaingo.app.
The short version
We only collect what Gaingo needs to work: your account, your training log and what you choose to share with friends. We never sell your data. Right now Gaingo has no ads and no tracking or advertising tools.
What we collect
- Account: email address, password (stored encrypted by our login provider, we never see it) and username.
- Your training: workout days, workout types, cardio distance/time you enter, streaks, stats, levels, achievements, plates and store items.
- Your profile: buddy character, bio, Instagram/TikTok usernames if you add them, privacy setting, and the profile stats you choose to show.
- Things you share: photos you post, captions, comments, "spots" (likes), nudges, follows and follow requests.
- Sick and holiday mode: if you turn these on, we store the dates. Friends only see "getting better" or "on holiday", never any health details.
- Gender (optional): only used to pick fair standards for the Grizz Trials. It is never shown to anyone.
- Safety: reports and blocks you make.
What we don't collect
No location, no contacts, no health app data, no browsing history. Gaingo only uses your camera or photos when you choose to add a photo.
Why we use it (legal basis)
- To run the app you signed up for: saving your progress, your profile and the social features (contract).
- To keep Gaingo safe: handling reports, blocks and misuse (legitimate interest).
- Sick mode dates are only used to pause your progress, and only because you turned it on (your consent; you can turn it off any time).
Who can see what
- Public account: anyone on Gaingo can see your profile, the stats you choose to show and your posts.
- Private account: only followers you accept can see your photos and medals.
- Never shown to others: your email, your gender, the "Back Stronger" medal and your exact sick-mode dates.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored with Supabase, our database and login provider. Some of their servers may be outside the EU; when that happens your data is protected by the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses. Some progress is also saved on your own phone.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. When you delete your account in Settings, we delete your profile, posts, photos, comments and training data. Backups are cleared within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your data, and you can object to how we use it. Most of this you can do in the app (edit profile, delete posts, delete account). For anything else email support@gaingo.app. You can also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
Age
Gaingo is for people aged 16 and over. If we find out an account belongs to someone younger, we will delete it.
Ads in the future
In the future we may show ads for fitness-related products we think fit Gaingo. Ads will never use your photos, and we will never sell your personal data to advertisers. Before we add ads we will update this policy, and if any ads would use tracking or personalisation we will ask your permission first (you can always say no and keep using Gaingo).
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date below and tell you in the app if it's a big change.
